A busy day at the club when we hosted the Essex Summer Cup Competitions finals day. A great standard of tennis with teams from clubs all over Essex competing in the seven cup finals played across the day. Commiserations to our ladies team who had to settle for runners up spot against Grove Chelmsford in the Ladies Intermediate Cup final. After some hard fought matches, with one match won on a championship tiebreak and another lost on a championship tiebreak, and Grove leading 2 rubbers to 1, our team unfortunately could no longer achieve a win overall. Very well done to both our pairs, Gill Sanderson & Sarah Ball and Lexie Harris-Griffiths & Sarah Jolley. Many thanks to Steve for organising the event along with George Sabiniak from Essex Tennis, and also a big thank you to Sarah O’Sullivan and her team of helpers for providing refreshments throughout the day and to those club members who looked after the bar.
