The Essex County Closed Championships are over and what a week of tennis it was at Westcliff Lawn Tennis Club! This was the first year of us hosting the tournament and the support the club received from our members was amazing – thank you all so much! A fantastic team effort, whether it was helping in the kitchen, wearing an orange polo shirt & assisting on court, sponsoring the tournament, baking cakes, looking after the bar and tuck shop, clearing up, as well as quite a few other jobs, everyone who was involved contributed to the resounding success of the tournament. The feedback coming in backs this up – players, parents, spectators all confirming how well everything went and how welcome they felt! A special shout out to Steve who did an excellent job as the tournament referee, so well organised and efficient as always. And a huge thank you to Sarah O’Sullivan who was in the kitchen every day from start to finish ensuring that refreshments were available throughout the week, nothing but praise being received for the food everyone enjoyed!
